Fearless Writing: the map that gets you there

A participatory, experiential workshop, supportive yet challenging,  Fearless Writing™ was developed more than fifteen years ago by Crescent Dragonwagon (left, photo Susan Storch). The seminar is  exhilarating,  audacious, useful and individual. As you map the creative process with CD, you'll clarify where you are at present,  where you want to go,  and how you might  get there. Fearless Writing™ is for you, whether you're an experienced professional, an "I've always wanted to write but..."  or someone active in non-writing disciplines. (artistic and otherwise) who  wants to find a new edge, surprise yourself,  and push your  limits. Those who have taken it include novelists, poets, screenwriters, truck-drivers, songwriters, doctors, a weaver/sheep-farmer, children's book authors, cookbook writers, housewives, innkeepers, professors, book reviewers, teachers, and advertising executives. The mix of folks and professions in a typical Fearless strengthens the group.

you can't drive with the emergency brake on

Why is the act of writing often uncomfortable? Why are  the ideas and sentences we form mentally frequently so much clearer than what comes out on paper? What keeps us from  finding, and writing in  the true and distinctive voice we may sense as present but elusive within ourselves?  What's happening when we feel blocked or tense, when we procrastinate? How can  writing  become easier, less painful? Might  both the process and end result of writing be instead energizing, habitual, natural, and filled with clarity and surprise both for writer and (eventually) reader? Hundreds of writers and would-be writers, in all genres, who have taken Fearless Writing™ have found  the answers to these questions.

less angst, more ease

Through the direct experience of self-discovery and writing which take place in this exhilarating  workshop, attendees  gain  a profound, but practical,  usable understanding of how the art, craft, habits, and practice of writing intersect, and where and how they may be stopping themselves. With the individually self-developed tools and strategies to act on this knowledge lastingly, writing and other creative acts do not end with the workshop, but can naturally become part of every day.

Fearless Writing in Italy

In 2003, CD added a new dimension to Fearless Writing  when she brought the workshop to Emilia-Romangna, Italy, and incorporated culinary touring and hands-on study. In this generous country, inner discovery  melds seamlessly with outer exploration, as mornings of writing give way to afternoons in the  Italian countryside. Sensual, intimate travel, with an emphasis on culinary experience in the context of culture and agriculture,  open out intoxicatingly  family farmhouse kitchens, orchards, farms, and vineyards. Crescent's style combines yet contrasts  with of our delightful Italian hosts, Marcello & Raffa.

"Crescent Dragonwagon's Fearless Writing course
is both inspiring and original. I loved it, and have recommended it
often, to both established and aspiring writers. "

--- Julia Child, author of Mastering the Art of French Cooking
(among much else)
