Homemade Hummingbird Nectar

Combine and bring to a boil:

4 cups water
1 cup sugar

  • Boil, stirring occasionally, till sugar dissolves. Remove from heat and cool to room temperature. Fill feeder. These sugar water feeders should be cleaned every one to two weeks, or whenever the feeder needs refilling. Use a brush and mild detergent; rinse well.

Note: Do NOT use honey solutions in feeders. It sounds nice and "organic", but unfortunately may produce a fungal disease fatal to hummingbirds.
